There are some interesting rumors floating around about Tesla’s next move. A well-known Tesla hacker, known as @greentheonly, has found hints that Tesla may soon launch its own voice assistant in its upcoming 2024.14.3 update. This potential new feature would be activated by a wakeword, similar to how Apple’s “Hey Siri” works, making the car always ready to listen for commands.
The leaker also mentioned that the voice assistant might use the “Jenny Neutral” voice from Microsoft, but there’s no word yet on what the assistant might be named or what its full capabilities might entail.
Tesla’s Current Voice Control Limitations
Currently, Tesla cars do have voice controls, but they need to be activated by pressing the right scroll button on the steering wheel. The existing functionality is limited to relatively simple commands, and there isn’t a way to trigger them with a spoken keyword.
Other Features in Tesla’s Upcoming Update
Tesla has already announced several new features for its cars in an upcoming “spring update.” These include a revamped user interface, a hands-free trunk opening feature, automatic shifting, and the ability to preview Sentry Mode recordings on your phone.

However, @greentheonly also leaked a few more unannounced features that could be part of this update. These include support for Amazon Music, additional options for Driver Profiles, including more restricted profiles than what’s currently available, and new Track Mode windows with fresh settings.
While none of these rumors have been confirmed by Tesla yet, if true, they signal a significant evolution in Tesla’s in-car technology. As with any potential new features, we’ll have to wait and see how the voice assistant and other updates pan out once they’re officially unveiled.
